The Brazilian team is classified for the round of 16 of the World Cup. This Monday, the team led by Carlo Ancelotti defeated Japan 2-1, in a match played at the NRG Stadium, in Houston, in the United States.

After the decisive goal in stoppage time, Corinthians used social media to celebrate the performance of Gabriel Martinelli, who scored the goal that guaranteed the Brazilian victory. The club published a photo of the striker wearing the black and white shirt during his youth years and associated the suffering of classification with the traditional "Corinthians way".

"IF IT'S NOT SUFFERED IT'S NOT... From the base of #CorinthiansFutsal to the world! MARTINELLI DECIDED FOR BRAZIL AGAINST JAPAN!", wrote the club.

A declared Corinthians fan, Martinelli began his sporting career at Parque São Jorge. Between 2010 and 2014, the striker played in the futsal youth categories and also in the club's field football before leaving Timão at the age of 13, when his family moved to Itu.

It was at Ituano that the player gained prominence on the national scene, arousing the interest of European football. In 2019, he ended up negotiating with Arsenal, from England, in a transfer valued at around R$30 million.

Since then, Martinelli has built a successful career at the London club. Wearing the Gunners shirt, he played 278 matches and scored 62 goals, as well as taking part in the campaign that ended a 22-year drought without winning the Premier League.

In the match against Japan, the striker started on the bench and came on in the 21st minute of the second half, replacing Matheus Cunha. The Asian team had taken the lead with a goal from Shano, but Casemiro tied the match before the final stretch.

In the 50th minute of the second half, Martinelli received the ball inside the area and finished well. The conclusion also included a slight deflection by goalkeeper Suzuki and a touch on the post before dying in the back of the net, declaring the Brazilian turnaround.

The goal was the attacker's fifth in 26 games for the Brazilian team.

Now, Brazil awaits the definition of its opponent in the round of 16. The next rival will emerge from the clash between Ivory Coast and Norway, which will face each other this Tuesday, at 2 pm (Brasília time). The Seleção's eliminatory duel is scheduled for next Sunday, the 5th, at 5pm.
