Corinthians begins talks to renew the contract of Luiz Fernando, Under-20 standout

Corinthians has begun negotiations to renew the contract of striker Luiz Fernando, one of the main highlights of the U20 team in the 2026 season. According to information released by TMC, the conversations are at an early stage and are taking place at a time when the player starts to join the activities of the main team during the interseason led by Fernando Diniz.

Luiz Fernando's current contract with the club is valid until December 11, 2027. The expectation is that, throughout the negotiations, Corinthians will extend the contract for another three seasons and also readjust the values of termination fines for the national and international market.

Born in 2007, the striker has been one of the main names in the club's youth categories. In 2025, he ended the season as the U20's top scorer, with ten goals scored. In 2026, he maintained his good performance and scored 12 goals in 26 matches, ten of which were in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship, a competition in which he is among the top scorers.

The performance caught the attention of Fernando Diniz's technical committee, who called up Luiz Fernando to participate in the preparation of the professional team alongside midfielder Luiz Gustavo Bahia and midfielder Gui Amorim. The trio joins training during the break in the national calendar.

In addition to the contract renewal, the attacker's future is also being debated internally. Currently, the professional squad has Kaio César and Dieguinho as original options for the right side of the attack, in addition to the possibility of using Breno Bidon in the role. Given this scenario, one of the alternatives evaluated by the club is to renew the young man's contract and, later, loan him out so that he can gain experience and a sequence of games in professional football.

Luiz Fernando also arouses interest outside the country. According to TMC, clubs in Eastern Europe carried out surveys for the striker in recent months. The next transfer window will officially open on July 20th, while Serie A clubs will have an exceptional period for registrations from the 9th.

While awaiting the definition of his contractual future, Luiz Fernando remains integrated into the work of the main squad and should participate in Corinthians' friendly against Cascavel, scheduled for July 12th, in Paraná. At the same time, the U20s are preparing to face Palmeiras in the quarter-finals of the Brazilian Championship in the category, in clashes scheduled for the 8th and 15th of July.
