Corinthians beats Caxias do Sul, maintains 100% success and closes the first phase of the LDB undefeated

Corinthians ended the first phase of the 2026 Basketball Development League (LDB) with a perfect campaign. This Saturday morning (27), Timão beat Caxias do Sul 82 x 78, at Ginásio Municipal Felipe Karam, in Rio Claro, and confirmed their sixth consecutive victory in the competition.
For the confrontation, coach Wesley Aguiar started the match with Matheus Jamelão, Kaick, Kaique, Lukinhas and Luiggi.

The game was marked by balance from start to finish. Corinthians got the better of the first quarter and took the lead by closing the period at 18 to 14. In the second quarter, however, Caxias do Sul reacted, managed the turnaround and went into the break winning 37 to 27.
On the way back from the changing rooms, Timão returned more consistent on both sides of the court. The black and white team reduced the difference and regained the lead at the end of the third quarter, with a score of 48 to 44. In the final ten minutes, the opponent regained balance and regained the lead at times, but Corinthians demonstrated the power of reaction to close the match 82 x 78 and maintain their unbeaten record in the competition.
Among the individual highlights, Kaique was Corinthians' top scorer, scoring 23 points, in addition to contributing with five rebounds. Figueira also had a decisive performance, adding 19 points and three rebounds. Luiggi recorded a double-double, with 15 points and 15 rebounds.
With the result, Corinthians concludes the first phase of the LDB with six wins in six matches. Before defeating Caxias do Sul, the team beat Brasília (92 x 58), Basquete Cearense (83 x 55), Minas (67 x 66, after extra time), Instituto Viva Vida-ES (83 x 82) and Cruzeiro (84 x 69).
In the 2026 edition of the Basketball Development League, the 24 participating clubs were distributed into two groups with 12 teams each. Each bracket was divided into two subgroups of six teams. In the first phase, clashes took place between teams from opposing subgroups within the same group. Following the competition, the clubs begin to face opponents from their own subgroup.
The second phase of the LDB will be played between July and August, with matches distributed at the headquarters of Corinthians, Cruzeiro, Paulistano and Flamengo.
At the end of this stage, the four best placed in each group advance to the Gold Series, which will define the champion of the competition between the 14th and 19th of September. The teams that finish between fifth and eighth place will compete in the Silver Series, scheduled to take place between September 12th and 17th. The venues for the final stages will still be announced by the tournament organizers.
