Corinthians hosted, on the afternoon of last Sunday (5), Sertãozinho, at the Alfredo Schürig Stadium, Fazendinha, in a duel valid for the fourth round of the first phase of the 2026 Paulista Under-20 Championship, and beat the team from the interior of São Paulo by 1 x 0. Timãozinho's goal was scored by midfielder Luiz Eduardo, from a penalty, at the end of the first half. With the result, Alvinegro reached 10 points and shares the leadership of Group 1 with Ferroviária, who have an advantage on goal difference - seven against four.
Soon after the match, right-back João Vitor 'Jacaré', aged 19, gave an exclusive interview to Ulisses TV and celebrated his return to the pitch. He had not played for two months, as he suffered a thigh injury in April and, since then, he was in the medical department. In last weekend's match, he was called on by coach William Batista at the beginning of the complementary stage.

"I would first like to thank God, may all the honor and all the glory be given to him. If I'm here, if I had the opportunity to play today, it was thanks to him. I had practically two months and a short time out with a hamstring injury, but thank God I'm back. The Bible says in Romans that all things work together for good to those who love God. And Paul, he says, in everything we have to give grace."
22 minutes into the second half, João Vitor participated in the expulsion of an opposing player, which meant that Timão had the same number of players. At the end of the first half, Alvinegro's left-back, Guilherme Pires, had also been sent off after attacking the Sertãozinho athlete.
"I got injured, we are a little sad, upset, but we don't know God's purpose. Sometimes a worse injury could happen, God didn't allow that to happen. But very happy to come back, win the three points at home, it wasn't an easy game against the Sertãozinho team. We managed to score the goal, we suffered a little more glory to God for that, a great comeback. And concentrate, there's a game against Palmeiras on Wednesday", he began.
Later, he analyzed the triumph and detailed the conversation with coach William Batista at halftime after Pires's expulsion: "The teacher helped us set up two lines of four and one of one and it ended up that a play came out of here, our transition, I gave a pass to Cristian (Júnior), the player had a yellow card and ended up being sent off. But it was a very good strategy from William, he talked to us in the locker room, gave us advice. Thank God we managed to come away with three points", continued.
Finally, he spoke about the affection he receives from the Corinthians fans and mentioned his goals within the Parque São Jorge club, highlighting that he is always willing to contribute, regardless of the status he has on the field: "First of all, thank them for supporting us and for us playing for Corinthians. They are a fan base very blessed by God and I hope and want to help this club a lot, for the glory of God, helping with titles, playing well too, showing race, honoring the shirt, which is the main thing everything. It's honoring God, it's honoring the shirt, we have to honor our work. In the Bible Ecclesiastes 9:10 it says that everything that comes to our hands we have to do with all our strength.
At Corinthians since 2023 after playing for Ibrachina, João Vitor 'Jacaré' has three appearances for the Corinthians main team, all in the Campeonato Paulista. In 2025, he received minutes with Ramón Díaz's coaching staff in the games against Novorizontino and Portuguesa. In the current season, when the team was led by Dorival Júnior, they were on the field in the 3-0 win against Ponte Preta at the Neo Química Arena, in the first round of the state championship.
Despite not having established himself in the main squad, he frequently participated in training sessions with the Corinthians professional squad between the middle of last year and the beginning of 2026. He was part of the 2025 Copa do Brasil champion team, against Vasco da Gama, at Maracanã. For Timão's Under-17s and 20s, there are 67 games and one goal scored, with 38 wins, 17 draws and 12 defeats. Your contract ends in October 2029.
After beating Sertãozinho, at Parque São Jorge, by the minimum score, in the state championship, Corinthians resumes its focus on the quarterfinals of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship. Next Wednesday (8), at 3pm, Timãozinho will host Palmeiras, also at Fazendinha, in the first leg of the knockout phase. The second game will be on the 16th, Thursday, at the same time, at Arena Barueri. Alviverde had the best campaign in the qualifying phase with 44 points.
