Corinthians assistant highlights the importance of the classic against São Paulo in the Under-17 Brasileirão

Corinthians returns to the field this Monday afternoon (1st) for another commitment in the Brazilian Under-17 Championship. At 5:30 pm (Brasília time), at Estádio do Canindé, Timãozinho faces São Paulo in the second round of the national competition in a clash that could lead to the top of the table.

After debuting with a 2 x 0 victory over Vitória, away from home, the black and white team seeks to maintain 100% success in the tournament and remain among the top placed in the competition. The positive result in the opening round left Corinthians with three points and a two-goal difference, behind only Fluminense in the tiebreaker criteria.

On the eve of Majestoso, assistant coach Gabriel Amaral commented on the relevance of the confrontation and highlighted that matches of this size go beyond the dispute for points, also serving as an important stage in the training of young athletes.

"We usually say that games are worth three points, but this is a different match. In a Majestic, it's worth more than overcoming the opponent. It's the type of game that propels the team that wins forward. It's the type of match that helps to forge the athlete's career. We had a training session after the victory in the debut, but our preparation has already been done since our pre-season. The boys are mature enough to deal with this situation and are well prepared to play a good game."

The professional has been part of the technical committee led by Guilherme Nascimento since the end of 2025. Before arriving at Parque São Jorge, Gabriel built a career in the youth categories of Red Bull Bragantino, where he participated in prominent campaigns in national and state competitions.

At the Bragança Paulista club, he became the coach with the most matches played in the youth categories and accumulated achievements such as the 2019 Brazil-Japan Under-15 Tournament, the 2022 Paulista Cup Under-15 and the 2025 Under-17 Coffee Tournament.

Now at Corinthians, the assistant participates in the development work of the under-17 team, which started the national season with a positive result against Vitória. The away win put Timão in a position to compete for the lead in the second round.

In addition to the search for three points, the classic against São Paulo represents another important test for a generation trying to consolidate itself among the main teams in the category in the country. Depending on the other results of the round, a new victory could take Corinthians to the top of the Brazilian Under-17 Championship standings.
