Corinthians agrees to release Sub-20 defender and maintains part of economic rights

In the early evening of this Tuesday (16), Corinthians registered, in the Daily Newsletter (BID) of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), the termination of the contract of 19-year-old defender Yago Cândido. His contract ended on May 2, 2027. Central do Timão found that Alvinegro maintained 20% of the athlete's economic rights with an eye on a possible future sale.

Born in 2007, Yago was part of the list of 29 players outside of Corinthians' youth academy plans. As occurred in other departures, the training department, led by executive Erasmo Damiani, has been promoting cost reduction, releasing young people who had not been given chances in the youth categories and, at the same time, maintaining part of their economic rights.

At this moment, coach William Batista has the following options for the sector in the Under-20 category: Iago Machado, Lorenzo Correa, Pedro Paulo, Cauã Ribeiro, Levy Dias and Yago Melo. The last two were acquired, free of transfer costs, from Flamengo after the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, combined with work in the fundraising sector.

For Alvinegro, Yago Cândido played 29 matches in the Under-17 and 20 categories, 24 of which were for the younger team and just five for the older team. During this period, he scored one goal. His last performance with the Corinthians shirt took place in September 2025, when the Parque São Jorge club beat XV de Piracicaba, away from home, in the third phase of the Paulistão U20.
