Corinthians advances towards renewal of Memphis and is encouraged by pre-World Cup agreement

Corinthians and Memphis Depay are closer to renewing the player's contract, and the atmosphere behind the scenes at the Parque São Jorge club is one of optimism between both parties, as CNN Brasil found.

In the last week, conversations have intensified and there is an expectation that the new bond will be signed even before the World Cup, which starts on June 11th.

Memphis is a practically guaranteed presence on the Netherlands national team list, which will be released this Wednesday (27), which accelerated negotiations to prevent his participation in the World Cup from increasing uncertainty about his future at Timão.

Internally, people participating in the negotiations assess that the scenario has changed significantly in recent days and already consider that Corinthians and Memphis are "more aligned" for the renewal, which could be for another two years, until the middle of 2028.

According to CNN Brasil, the number 10 is also more optimistic about his stay at the club.

One of the points that would make the renewal possible was progress in negotiations with companies seeking to help the club pay the Dutchman's salary. Memphis took an active part in this process, seeking to prospect new partners for Corinthians, in addition to accepting a new contract that will have lower values than the current one.

One of these companies is Ezze Seguros, which already has the brand on Timão's shirt and has an agreement in place to collaborate with values that would help in the renewal of Memphis. There are only bureaucratic details left to seal the deal with the insurance company.

The Parque São Jorge club is still talking to at least five more companies, and wants the participation of at least one more to help pay the costs of Memphis.

At Corinthians since September 2024, Memphis Depay has become one of the main names in Brazilian football and has already won three titles with the Timão shirt: the Campeonato Paulista (2025), the Copa do Brasil (2025) and the Supercopa do Brasil (2026). The number 10 has 78 games for Timão, with 20 goals and 15 assists.
