Over the afternoon of this Friday (12), the Corinthians Guidance Council (CORI) held a meeting with president Osmar Stabile and gave approval for the president to close an agreement with Outfield, a company that will assume the club's debt of US$ 7 million (around R$ 35.7 million) with Talleres, from Argentina, regarding the purchase of midfielder Rodrigo Garro, in January 2024. The information was determined by Central do Timão.
The report learned that the interest rate was set at CDI + 1% per year and that payments to the company, specialized in investments, will be made in 26 installments. As a guarantee of receipt for Outfield, Corinthians placed its television contracts and advertising boards. Last Thursday (11), Alvinegro signed a commitment to pay the debt with Talleres, which was extended until next Tuesday, June 16th. Initially, the deadline was set for today.

In February 2025, Corinthians had been ordered by the FIFA Arbitration Court (CAS) to pay R$3.6 million dollars (around R$18.6 million at the time) for non-payment of part of the amounts for the purchase of the Argentine midfielder. Since then, Alvinegro has resorted to action at FIFA to avoid a new transfer ban.
Corinthians and Talleres resumed negotiations over debt payment after the impeachment of Augusto Melo, who did not respond to contacts made by the Argentine team, in the middle of last year, and the entry of Osmar Stabile into the presidency. He even traveled to Buenos Aires to speak with the Córdoba team's management seeking an amicable outcome.
In an interview with ESPN Brasil this Friday, the president of Talleres, Andrés Fassi, revealed that the decision to grant an extension in the deadline for paying the debt was due to both parties being committed to finding a definitive solution to the imbroglio. According to the director, Corinthians has been making efforts to resolve the case.
It is worth remembering that, currently, Corinthians is already serving a punishment imposed by football's highest governing body due to a debt related to the signing of midfielder José Martínez, from the Philadelphia Union, in the United States. In parallel, the club recently appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to challenge an unfavorable decision by football's highest governing body in another international dispute, related to the loan renewal amounts for striker Talles Magno, who belongs to New York City FC, also in Major League Soccer.
