Copel sells stake in hydroelectric plant to Gerdau for R$150 million

Copel announced this Monday (15) the sale of its stake in the consortium responsible for the Dona Francisca HPP (Hydroelectric Plant) to Gerdau for R$ 150 million. Segundo o documento, o valor será pago em parcela única na data de fechamento da operação.

Gerdau already held 76.97% of the share capital of DFESA (Dona Francisca Energética S.A.), a company that operates a hydroelectric plant on the banks of the Jacuí River, between the municipalities of Agudo and Nova Palma, in Rio Grande do Sul, since the acquisition of the stake controlled by Celesc (Centrais Elétricas de Santa Catarina), in April this year.

With the acquisition of the remaining 23.03% through a CCVA (Share Purchase and Sale Agreement), the steel company now holds 100% of DFESA's capital.

The structure has an installed capacity of 125 MW, two generating units and an annual physical guarantee of 635,100 MWh.

According to Copel, the sale is part of the strategy to continually optimize its portfolio. In the statement to the market, the company also states that the decision is in line with the plan to simplify the corporate structure and concentrate investments in larger assets.
