Copa do Nordeste: Vitória turns against Fortaleza and comes out ahead in the final

Vitória beat Fortaleza 2-1, this Tuesday (2), at Castelão, and started ahead in the first game of the Copa do Nordeste final. The return match will take place next Saturday (6), at 4pm (Brasília time), at Barradão.

At 10 minutes into the second half, center forward Luiz Fernando headed the ball towards winger Vitinho. He charged, took a risk from outside the area and scored in favor of Leão do Pici. Later, midfielder Ronald received a straight red card and ended up being sent off the field, becoming a member of the Ceará team for the second game.

With one more, Salvador's team went on the attack in search of a comeback. Renato Kayzer, with a penalty, tied the dispute. Afterwards, Argentine Diego Tazia stepped up and scored a great goal to seal the visitors' triumph.

At Barradão, Vitória will seek to maintain the advantage built and secure its fifth Copa do Nordeste title. The club also won the 1997, 1999, 2003 and 2010 editions.

Fortaleza, on the other hand, will try to reverse the score away from home and lift the regional competition cup for the fourth time in history. Leão do Pici became champion of the tournament in 2019, 2022 and 2024.
