Coffee harvest reaches 12% in Cooxupé area with warning for El Niño

The coffee harvest reached an average of 12% in Cooxupé's area of operation until last June 5th, the pace is still lower than the last two harvests, which at the same time were at 13.7% (2025) and 13.6% (2024) in the more than 370 municipalities in the regions of Southern Minas, Cerrado Mineiro, Matas de Minas and Mogiana in the state of São Paul.

In the last days of May, hailstorms hit some coffee regions in Minas Gerais, which foreshadowed this year's weather problems. This Thursday (11), NOOA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the United States) reported that El Niño is already active and the chances of the phenomenon being "very strong" exceed 60%.

In the case of the cooperative, which is the largest in Latin America with more than 22 thousand coffee growers, the weekly harvest rate is a thermometer for the market, which prices the future coffee market, inside and outside Brazil.

The harvest is more advanced in the coffee plantations of São Paulo, with 18.3% of field work completed.

With the rains in Minas Gerais, the progress of fieldwork varied, with the regions of Matas de Minas and Sul de Minas more advanced, with 16% and 15% of the areas harvested, respectively.

In Cerrado Mineiro, the harvest is well below that of neighboring Minas Gerais, at 5.3% of coffee plants harvested.
