The arrival of banker Daniel Vorcaro at Papudinha changed the dynamics of the place last Thursday (25). The space started to function as a penitentiary and security measures were redoubled, transforming the 19th battalion of the DF military police. CNN Brasil was in Papudinha this Friday (26) and followed the routine and activities of the place throughout the day.

Vorcaro is isolated in the same cell where former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) was imprisoned. The space is 60 square meters with an outdoor area, bedroom, double bed, bathroom and dressing room. The space also housed the former president of BRB, Paulo Henrique Costa.

Around 50 people are trapped in the battalion. They receive five meals a day, with breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner and supper. On the day the CNN team was at Papudinha, feijoada was served for lunch. The afternoon snack was bread with butter, chocolate, juice and sweets.

The custodians are responsible for cleaning the cells. They need to wash their own clothes and bed sheets.

As soon as a new person arrives at Papudinha, they are in sanitary isolation for ten days. This is done to prevent possible transmission of any disease. Vorcaro complied with these same protocols. By decision of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), he also had to avoid contact with Paulo Henrique Costa.

The arrival of the former banker in pavilion B also reconfigured the layout of the cells. The former president of the BRB started to share a cell with the former Minister of Justice Anderson Torres and the former director general of the Federal Highway Police, Silvinei Vasques. The cells are side by side, but they cannot communicate as determined by the STF.

The former DF PM summit, condemned by the acts of January 8, is in the same pavilion. Among those arrested are former commander-general Fábio Augusto Vieira and former deputy commander-general Klepter Rosa.

In Pavilion A there are military police and lawyers. Papudinha has a total of eight cells: five larger and three smaller.

Prisoners receive visits from family members and lawyers in the courtrooms. The place has cameras for holding virtual hearings. Meetings with families take place once a week and with lawyers can be held daily for an hour.

Before entering, visitors must undergo an inspection with a body scanner capable of identifying whether they have cell phones or drugs.

The battalion known as Papudinha is also responsible for the security of the region where the penitentiary complex is located, close to São Sebastião. Agents use a drone to inspect surrounding forest areas.

Prisoned since March and transferred from prison seven times, Vorcaro has already had two plea bargains rejected. Now, the former banker is trying to develop a new award-winning collaboration proposal, at the same time as he is looking for new lawyers in Brasília.
