Claude, Anthropic's AI, gains a version aimed at scientific research; see how it works

Anthropic, an American technology company, launched this Tuesday (30) Claude Science, a tool developed to help researchers and professionals in different stages of scientific work.
Since 2025, the company has been investing in solutions aimed at this audience. Now, Claude Science brings together, in a single environment, tools widely used by researchers, such as PubMed, Jupyter and R, facilitating access to information, data analysis and the production of studies.
The platform also allows you to review and monitor the entire history of the work carried out by the AI.
According to Anthropic, Claude Science can be used on computers with macOS or Linux and also accessed remotely. The tool has more than 60 features and integrations aimed at areas such as biology, genetics and chemistry.
The beta version was released this Tuesday for subscribers of the Claude Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans.
What does the tool deliver?
Whenever it performs a task, Claude Science provides the user with:
the code used to generate the result;
the environment in which the work was performed;
an explanation in simple language about how the answer was produced;
the entire history from the conversation with AI.

Despite the new features, Anthropic emphasizes that the results must be reviewed by researchers.
During the execution of tasks, the user can follow the AI process, check how it reached conclusions and create different versions of the same work, called forks. This way, it is possible to compare different approaches without losing the original history.
In recent months, researchers who tested the beta version have used Claude Science in activities such as:
RNA sequencing analysis;
planning experiments with CRISPR, a gene editing technique;
protein structure prediction;
analysis in the area of computational chemistry.
How much does Claude cost?
Claude has a free plan (Free) that offers limited access to the main functions of the platform.
The Pro plan costs US$ 17 per month (approximately R$ 87.70, considering the dollar at R$ 5.16), recommended for those who use the tool on a daily basis.
The Max plan starts at US$ 100 per month (approximately R$ 516) and offers between five and twenty times more usage capacity than the Pro plan.
For teams, Anthropic offers the Team plan, aimed at groups of five to 150 users. It has two subscription options: a standard one, starting at US$20 per user per month (approximately R$103), and a premium one, starting at US$100 per user per month (approximately R$516), with a higher usage limit.
The Enterprise plan, aimed at larger companies and organizations, serves teams with more than 20 users. The price varies depending on the number of people and the type of use of the tool, with values starting at US$20 per user per month.
Company will support scientific projects
In addition to the launch of the platform, Anthropic announced that it will finance up to 50 research projects that use artificial intelligence.
Each project can receive up to US$30,000 in credits for using the technology. The company Modal will also offer up to US$2,000 in computing resources for selected projects.
In this first phase, the initiative will give priority to research in the areas of biology and biomedical sciences.
Registrations are open until July 15, 2026. Selected projects will be announced by July 31, and the work will be developed between September 1 and December 1, 2026.
