Civil Police carry out operation against manipulation in the Carioca Championship

The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro launched, this Monday (6), the third phase of Operation VAR, which investigates a scheme of result manipulation and money laundering in the Carioca Championship. Agents from Decon (Consumer Police Station) carried out search and seizure warrants in Bangu, in the west zone of Rio.

Among the targets is defender Luiz Gustavo Lopes dos Santos, a former Portuguesa-RJ player, who was taken to provide clarification. A second player is also being investigated, but has not yet been located.
