Christian Oliveira projects decisive sequence for Corinthians U20 between Paulista and Brasileiro

Corinthians U20 enters a decisive week of the season divided between two competitions. This Sunday (28), Timão faces Santos, at 3pm, in Vila Belmiro, in the fourth round of the Campeonato Paulista category. Next, the team led by William Batista faces Juventude, on Wednesday (1st), in the last round of the first phase of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship, in a confrontation that could guarantee qualification to the knockout stages.

On the eve of the sequence of matches, midfielder Christian Oliveira highlighted the squad's preparation and stated that the group is focused to face the challenges in both competitions.

"Our group is well prepared, we are in good spirits. Expectations are good, we are training well and we are very focused for the first game against Santos. As I said, it's about keeping our concentration up there. There are two high level competitions, the Brasileiro and the Paulista. Focus first on the game against Santos, then turn the key, meet Juventude away from home and play a great game there too."

In the Paulista Under-20 Championship, Corinthians has two victories in the two matches played so far. The team beat Mirassol 1 x 0 and beat Portuguesa Santista 2 x 0, adding six points. Despite the 100% success, Timão occupies fifth place in Group 1, tied on points with Santos, Portuguesa, Ferroviária and Juventus, falling behind according to the tiebreaker criteria.

In the Brazilian Under-20 Championship, the scenario is one of decision. Corinthians currently occupies eighth place, with 29 points, a position that guarantees the last place in the quarter-finals. A victory against Juventude, away from home, ensures the team's qualification for the knockout phase of the competition, a feat that has not happened since the 2023 edition.

Hired this season after a spell at Flamengo, Christian Oliveira is looking to consolidate his place in the team. The 19-year-old midfielder has played 15 games for Corinthians U20 and scored one goal with the black and white shirt. Now, the player hopes to help Timão maintain its good performance in the State Championship and confirm its place in the knockout stages of the Brazilian Championship.
