Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng announced this Monday (18) the start of mass production of its first robotaxi. The goal would be to offer fully autonomous passenger transport services by early 2027.
Tesla's rival has been accelerating its plans for autonomous vehicles and humanoid robots, as competition intensifies in the world's largest automotive market.
The robot taxi, built based on Xpeng's GX platform, is the first model of its kind in China to arrive pre-assembled and ready for production, developed entirely with its own technologies, the company said.

Xpeng plans to begin pilot operation of a robotaxi service in the second half of this year.
The company is expected to produce hundreds to thousands of robotaxis over the next 12 to 18 months, said president Brian Gu in an interview with Reuters last month.
