China promises greater support for artificial intelligence

China promised this Monday (29) to offer greater support for the development of artificial intelligence (AI), calling for intensified efforts to promote advances in the sector, according to the state broadcaster.

A cabinet meeting chaired by Premier Li Qiang said China must uphold the basic principles of AI safety and strengthen supervision.

Separately, the meeting also called for efforts to maintain a "strong momentum" in trade and promised to expand imports of products and services.
