Chief Raoni leaves the ICU and presents good clinical evolution

Chief Raoni Metyktire, 93 years old, left the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) this Monday (6), and is showing good clinical progress and was transferred to an infirmary room.

According to a new note on the chief's health status, he remains stable, conscious, responding to commands. The indigenous leader remains with a cough with secretion, afebrile, breathing room air and oral diet.

Raoni was admitted to the hospital in the state of Mato Grosso on June 14, after episodes of vomiting. Five days later, the chief was transferred to Hospital São Paulo (HSP/Unifesp) via air transport, with a case of upper intestinal obstruction and aspiration pneumonia.

On the 20th, the chief underwent unblocking surgery to maintain intestinal transit. On June 30, he developed digestive bleeding, which has now been controlled.

Health history
On May 7th of this year, the indigenous leader had already been admitted to Hospital Dois Pinheiros, in Sinop (MT), due to a chronic hernia. At the time, the Raoni Institute informed that its agenda was suspended.

Two days later, on May 9, he was medically discharged.

On May 12, the chief again became clinically unwell. Initially, he was treated at the UPA (Emergency Care Unit) in Peixoto de Azevedo and then taken to the city's Regional Hospital, where he received medical care. At his family's request, he was transferred to Hospital Dois Pinheiros two days later.

On May 14, the Chief was sent directly to the ICU after experiencing respiratory problems.

He was discharged on May 25th, but was hospitalized again on June 14th. On June 16th he underwent an upper endoscopy - an intensive examination used in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal diseases.
