The governor of the Federal District, Celina Leão (PP), participates this Tuesday (26) in a conciliation hearing at the STF (Supreme Federal Court) to try to unlock the rescue operation for BRB (Banco Regional de Brasília).

CNN Brasil found that the Government of the Federal District filed a lawsuit in Court to make the operation viable. The process was filed on May 19 and was reported by minister Luiz Fux.

After requesting a prior statement from the AGU (Attorney General of the Union), the Union's representative in the case, the minister called the hearing to deal with the matter.

In addition to Celina, representatives from the Attorney General's Office of the Federal District should participate in the meeting; the DF Economy Secretary, Valdivino de Oliveira; the AGU; the BC (Central Bank); the BRB; and minister Luiz Fux himself.

As CNN Brasil showed in early April, the governor had already turned to the Ministry of Finance in search of alternatives to strengthen the bank's financial situation. The federal government, however, resists.

BRB needs a capitalization of R$6.6 billion to strengthen its financial solidity indicators, including the Basel Index, a parameter that measures the capacity of a banking institution to absorb risks and preserve the security of its customers' resources.
