Cave in Laos: 5 of 7 people are found alive, rescuers say

Five of seven residents trapped for a week in a flooded cave in Laos were found alive, rescuers said on Wednesday.

They were located by specialized cave divers and, for now, remain trapped in an underground cave, while rescue teams continue the search for the two remaining residents.

A risky rescue operation was launched amid adverse weather conditions. They are believed to be trapped on "a raised ledge inside the cave, which receives continuous airflow", Laos' state news agency reported on Tuesday.
