Catupiry buys Leprino Foods operations in Brazil

Catupiry announced the acquisition of Leprino Foods operations in Brazil, represented by Lactojara Laticínios. The value of the operation was kept confidential.

According to the company, the move aims to expand its production capacity and strengthen its operations in the food service market. Founded in Minas Gerais, Catupiry operates in the retail and professional food segments, especially with dairy products.

Leprino Foods is a North American company based in Denver (Colorado), specializing in the production of cheeses for the professional food sector. The company is known globally for manufacturing mozzarella cheese, as one of the main producers, as well as dairy ingredients used by the food industry.

According to Catupiry's executive director, Andrea Areal, the operation combines the Brazilian brand's tradition with Leprino's experience in mozzarella production.

"This is a strategic step that gives us the production muscle necessary to continue strengthening our portfolio in the market," Areal said in a statement.

Catupiry informed that the incorporation of the new industrial plant is part of a strategy aimed at efficiency gains and greater control over the production chain. The company also highlighted that the investment is in addition to recent initiatives to internalize the production of processed cheeses.

The completion of the transaction still depends on the approval of Cade (Administrative Council for Economic Defense).
