Casemiro responds to controversy with Endrick in the Seleção: "I went to protect him"

Midfielder Casemiro stated this Thursday (28) that he was uncomfortable with the repercussions of a recent interview in which he commented on Endrick's situation in the Brazilian team. Part of the fans interpreted the midfielder's speech as an indication that the young striker would be "outside the team's main group".

During a press conference at Granja Comary, Casemiro explained that his intention was precisely to alleviate the pressure on the Real Madrid player, considered one of the main promises of Brazilian football.

"I was quite upset. At the time I went to try to protect the player, try not to put too much weight on him in a World Cup", said the midfielder.

Casemiro highlighted that Endrick still has a long way to go in the Seleção and asked for caution with the charges surrounding the striker. According to the experienced midfielder, there are other names in the squad who, at this moment, should assume greater protagonism.

"Endrick is a player who will play three, four World Cups. He is a great player. The issue was just one of protagonism. There are other players who are ahead and have to take on that protagonism", he said.

Shirt number 5 also mentioned other young athletes from the new generation, such as Rayan, and reinforced that younger players need to evolve without carrying excessive pressure at the beginning of their career with the national team.

Casemiro also commented on the repercussion on social media and recognized that public statements end up gaining different interpretations outside of the original context.

"Cuts happen. These things happen on social media", he added.

The Brazilian team continues its preparation at Granja Comary for the next FIFA Data commitments. The squad still carries out two more training sessions in Teresópolis before the friendly against Panama, scheduled for Sunday, at Maracanã.
