Two Corinthians players will have international commitments this Monday (8), in their national teams' last friendlies before the start of the 2026 World Cup. Midfielder André Carrillo, for Peru, and striker Memphis Depay, for the Netherlands, will be on the field in preparatory matches for the tournament.

The first to act will be Memphis Depay. The Netherlands faces Uzbekistan at 3:45 pm (Brasília time), at Icahn Stadium, in New York, in their last test before their debut at the World Cup. The match will be broadcast on ESPN and the Disney+ platform.

The Corinthian striker recently returned to the Dutch national team after recovering from a muscle injury in his right thigh, which kept him out of his commitments at the FIFA Date in March. Last Wednesday (3), Memphis played his first minutes for the Netherlands in 2026 when he entered halftime in the friendly against Algeria, which ended in a 1-0 defeat.

Seeding the top seed in Group F of the World Cup, the Netherlands will begin their journey in the tournament on June 14th, against Japan. They will then face Sweden on June 20th and conclude their participation in the group stage against Tunisia, on June 25th.

In addition to its sporting importance, Memphis' participation in the World Cup also represents a financial return for Corinthians. The club will receive compensation from FIFA for the period in which the number 10 remains available to the Dutch team during the competition.

Later, at 11pm (Brasília time), it will be André Carrillo's turn to enter the field. Peru faces Spain at the Cuauhtémoc Stadium, in Puebla, Mexico, in a friendly match that concludes the two teams' preparation for their next challenges. The match will be broadcast on SporTV.

The match marks only the fourth commitment for the Peruvian team under the command of Mano Menezes, hired in January this year after the team's elimination in the South American Qualifiers. Even without a place in the 2026 World Cup, Peru uses the friendlies from this period as part of the planning for the cycle aimed at the 2030 World Cup.

Last Friday (5), the Peruvians beat Haiti 2 x 1. Now, they will face one of the teams considered favorites for the world title.

Current Eurocup champions, Spain arrive at the tournament surrounded by expectations, despite drawing 1-1 with Iraq in their most recent friendly.

This Monday's duel will be the fourth meeting between Peruvians and Spaniards in history. In the three previous clashes, all friendly matches, the European team came out on top. In 1960, they won 3 x 1. Then, they triumphed 2 x 1 in 2004 and repeated the same score in 2008.

While Memphis is the only Corinthian representative present at the World Cup, Carrillo will continue with the Peruvian team in its process of renewal and preparation for the next international cycles.
