Carlo Ancelotti turns 67 on the eve of his first World Cup as coach

Brazil is in the final stages of preparation for its debut in the World Cup, which takes place this Saturday (13), at 7pm (Brasília time), against Morocco, in New Jersey. Playing in the tournament is new for 11 of the 26 squad and for coach Carlo Ancelotti, who turns 67 this Wednesday (10).

Ancelotti played as a midfielder and retired from the field in 1992. Afterwards, he started as an assistant coach for the Italian national team and was alongside Arrigo Sacchi in the campaign that ended with runners-up in the world championship in 1994.

After standing out at Parma, Carlo joined Juventus, where he remained for two seasons. At Milan, the coach did his first big job and won two Champions Leagues, a Club World Cup, an Italian Championship, among other titles.

After winning the respective national leagues in charge of Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, Ancelotti moved to Real Madrid, where he won another Champions League and took the Spanish side out of a 12-year run without continental cups.

After spells at Bayern Munich, Napoli and Everton, the Italian returned to the Madrid team in 2021. The coach became European champion twice again and won nine other championships, until joining Brazil in May last year.

Now, Carlo Ancelotti debuts as a World Cup coach in the United States, the same country in which he began his career on the sidelines in 1994. After the clash against Morocco, the Brazilian team faces Haiti and Scotland in Group C, with an eye on a place in the knockout stages.
