Cannes Festival: Brazilian short film "Laser-gato" wins award

Brazilian director Lucas Acher, 30, won an award at the Cannes Film Festival for the short film "Laser-gato". The only Brazilian director in this year's edition of the film festival, the production was shown on the La Cinef circuit, whose objective is to give visibility to new international talents.

The film, awarded this Thursday (21), competed with 18 other productions, representing 15 countries. In total, there were 12 women and 9 men in the management. According to Variety magazine, the show received 2,750 applications from film schools around the world.

Second was "Silent Voices" by Nadine Misong Jin, from Columbia University, United States. The productions "Never Enough" (La Fémis, France) and "Growing Stones, Flying Papers" by Roozbeh Gezerseh and Soraya Shamsi (Filmuniversität Babelsberg Konrad Wolf, Germany) took third place.
