BYD Atto 2 DM-i starts at R$ 149,990; SUV is the brand's first flex plug-in hybrid in Brazil

BYD presented this Tuesday (9) the Atto 2 DM-i Flex, the brand's first flex plug-in hybrid. The model will be produced at the Camaçari (BA) factory using the CKD system, that is, assembled in Brazil at the beginning. The GL version is priced at R$149,990. The GS version has not yet had a price announced. As soon as BYD publishes it, this report will be updated.

The SUV has a similar look to the Yuan Pro, its 100% electric equivalent. However, the hybrid version uses DM-i technology, with a 1.5 naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, 16 valves, direct injection and Atkinson cycle. The combustion engine delivers almost 100 horsepower and works in conjunction with an electric motor with almost 200 horsepower. The torque exceeds 30 kgfm and is generated mainly by the electric motor.

The model will be offered in two battery configurations. The version with a 7.8 kWh battery, GL, has a combined power of 177 horsepower. The option with a 18.3 kWh battery, GS, surpasses 197 horsepower. The torque exceeds 30 kgfm and is generated mainly by the electric motor.
According to the manufacturer, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 8.5 seconds in the GL version and 8.4 seconds in the GS version. The autonomy published by BYD in the European cycle (NEDC) is 1,045 kilometers, although the value is reduced after the correction applied in the Inmetro tests.
The maximum speed is 180 km/h in both versions.
Also using the NEDC cycle, the Atto 2 Flex in the GL version can travel up to 45 km using only battery power. The GL configuration covers 110 km in the same test.
A new feature is battery regeneration on mountain descents. The BYD takes advantage of the long downhill stretch and uses the movement of the wheels to charge the batteries and, at the same time, brake the car without using pads on the discs.
As it is plug-in, the Atto 2 allows the battery to be recharged via wallbox. The maximum recharge capacity, that is, how much the car can handle to "fill" the batteries, is 3.3 kW in the GL version and 6.6 kW in the GS.

In terms of dimensions, the SUV measures 4.33 m in length, 2.62 m in wheelbase, 1.83 m in width and 1.67 m in height. The weight exceeds 1,600 kg.
The trunk has a capacity of 455 liters, a larger volume than that of the Yuan Pro, the fully electric version of the model.

In the cabin, the Atto 2 DM-i Flex maintains several similarities with the Yuan Pro. One of the main differences is in the central console. While the electric model has a large gear lever on the console, the hybrid is controlled by a flap on the steering column.
The SUV also has a large multimedia center and a digital instrument panel, equipment present in both the hybrid and electric versions.
The multifunctional steering wheel, door panels and seats follow a design similar to that found in the Yuan Pro.
There are four driving modes that can be chosen by the driver. They are: Snow, Sport, Eco and Normal
Equipment
The GL version features a 360 camera, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connections, dual-zone air conditioning, emergency braking, license plate recognition, automatic high beams, automatic cruise control, fabric seats with manual adjustment, twilight sensor and alloy wheels as standard equipment. The multimedia screen is 10.1 inches.
The GS configuration has everything from the entry-level version, but the multimedia screen is larger, at 12.8 inches, and has integrated Google Maps.
In addition, the more expensive version has rear collision warning, alert and emergency braking for rear cross traffic, lane keeping assistant and blind spot detection.
And it doesn't stop there, there is also an induction charger, synthetic leather seats with electrical adjustments for the driver, sensor rain protection, panoramic roof with UV filter and roof rack.
