Búzios field breaks record and reaches 1.2 million barrels per day

The Búzios field, in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, reached an average production of 1.2 million barrels of oil per day last Friday (26). The volume was reached three days after the field registered 1.1 million barrels per day, driven by the entry of new platforms. The information was released by Petrobras to Reuters.
"The new record was achieved with the expansion of activities on the P-78 and P-79 platforms, which are still in the phase of gradually increasing production until reaching maximum capacity ('ramp up') of 180 thousand barrels per day each", stated the company.

The Búzios field, the largest in deep waters in the world, has eight production units in operation: the platforms P-74, P-75, P-76, P-77, P-78 and P-79, in addition to the platform ships (FPSOs) Almirante Barroso and Almirante Tamandaré.
In total, the field will have 12 FPSOs in operation. Units P-80, P-82 and P-83 are under construction, and the Búzios 12 platform is in the bidding process, according to Petrobras.

Oil prices in the international market
The increase in production comes at a time of pressure on oil prices in the international market.
Although the commodity fell more than 10% last week, amid greater optimism due to the memorandum of understanding signed between the United States and Iran, an escalation of tensions last weekend put pressure on prices again.
Washington and Tehran exchanged new attacks last Friday (26), calling into question the ceasefire implemented by the memorandum of understanding signed last week.
Iran classified the offensive as a "clear violation" of the ceasefire and threatened to "paralyze all diplomatic processes", while American President Donald Trump once again made threats.
"It is very likely that they will never learn their lesson. It is possible that, one day, we will no longer be able to act prudently and will be forced to complete, through military force, the mission that we began with so much success. If that happens, the Islamic Republic of Iran will cease to exist", said the president on TruthSocial last Saturday (27).
On Sunday (29), the two countries agreed to suspend recent hostilities in the Gulf and resume negotiations on the dispute over the Strait of Hormuz. The expectation is that there will be a new meeting in Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday (30).
With the escalation of tensions, the barrel of Brent, an international reference, was operating at an increase of 0.96% around 11 am this Monday (29), quoted at US$ 72.68. West Texas Intermediate (WTI), from the USA, advanced 1.23% at the same time, at US$ 70.08 per barrel.
