Bunkers and dragon teeth: Estonia mounts defense on border with Russia

Estonia has unveiled a new line of fortifications on its border with Russia, including trenches, bunkers and "dragon's teeth" anti-tank barriers.

The defenses stretch across forests and fields along the border and are intended to prevent or delay an attack by Russian forces.

"We have already done the most time-consuming part of the work. If you don't prepare for war, you can't keep the peace," said Lieutenant Colonel Ainar Afanasjev of the Estonian Defense Forces.

"The strategy adopted so far is to maintain a company-level fortified post in the northeast area and another in the southeast area - mainly to show the population what we are doing and why we do it -, but keeping in mind that even these positions were established according to our planning", he added.

You can see bunkers in the trees, fortified with logs and sandbags.

On Thursday (25), Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk declared that the security situation on the eastern flank of NATO, the Western military alliance, is unstable and that risks could soon increase.
