Romania's Defense Ministry said on Friday (29) that a Russian drone struck a residential building on its territory and injured two in the town of Galati, near the border with Ukraine.
"On the night of May 28 to 29, the Federation Russia has resumed its drone strikes against civilian targets and infrastructure in Ukraine, near the river border with Romania. One of these drones penetrated Romanian airspace," the ministry said in a statement.
The device "was tracked by radar to the southern part of the city of Galati and then crashed into the roof of a residential building, which caused a fire upon impact," it added.
Several drone incursions have been detected in Romania since the start of the Russian offensive against Russia. Ukraine, in February 2022, but this is the first time that one of these devices has crashed into a residential building.

When the unmanned aircraft were detected near Romanian airspace, two F-16 fighters took off from Fetesti air base, in the east of the country, and "engaged in combat with the targets", the ministry added.
According to the affected country, the response to the attack will come through diplomatic measures. Romania called the attack a "serious violation of international law."
After a new aerial alert in Ukraine in the early hours of this Friday (29), another Russian drone proved the fire on a Turkish cargo ship. Two crew members were injured, according to the Ukrainian navy.

On Monday (25), Russia stated that it planned to launch new bombings against Kiev and reiterated its call for foreigners and diplomats to leave the city, a warning that the Foreign Minister conveyed to the head of American diplomat, Marco Rubio.

The offensive took place days after Moscow accused Kiev of attacking a vocational school in the Ukrainian region of Lugansk, occupied by Russia, causing the death of 21 people. Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered his army to respond to the attack.
Russia had already asked foreign citizens and diplomats to leave Kiev earlier this month, when it threatened to launch massive attacks on the city center if Ukraine disrupted a military parade in Red Square.
