BTS shows at Chile's National Stadium may be suspended; understand

The National Sports Institute (IND) has decided not to authorize the use of the National Stadium's Central Coliseum for performances on BTS's "Arirang" tour, which are scheduled for October 14th, 16th and 17th.

According to information obtained by CNN Chile, the agency carried out a technical assessment and concluded that the installation of a 360° central stage could compromise the restoration of the pitch and affect the venue's sporting and institutional commitments.

The IND argues that the decision does not imply a rejection of large-scale events, but rather a rejection of the specific use of the Central Coliseum under the proposed conditions. As an alternative, the body suggested the evaluation of areas such as the South Esplanade or the South Park of the National Stadium.

The organization's refusal to use the country's main stadium triggered a crisis that now goes beyond the show itself, involving fans, the producer, government authorities, members of parliament and even the international structure that surrounds BTS.

In an interview with CNN Chile, Daira Zurita, part of the BTS Chile fanbase, reinforced that the main question is not just whether BTS will finally perform in the country, but under what conditions. "It's a question of consumer rights. What happens to the show I'm watching or would watch? What happens to it?".

Natalia Duco, Chile's Sports Minister, pointed the finger at producer DG Medios, stating that the company knew that authorization had not yet been confirmed. She also reported that the reaction went through several phases.

Deputy Alejandro Bernales questioned the preventive role of the Ministry of Sports and pointed out a contradiction in the official explanation. "It is contradictory for the Minister of Sports to say that something that has not been confirmed cannot be cancelled," said the parliamentarian. For him, the alerts should have been issued earlier.

The group performs on the 28th, 30th and 31st of October at the MorumBIS stadium, in São Paulo. Tickets for the three-day show are sold out.

In a press release, Ticketmaster reported that more than 1.9 million people were present in the sales system for the three performances in Brazil.

Considering that the average is almost two tickets per person, the demand exceeds 3.7 million tickets, which is equivalent to more than 48 MorumBIS stadiums completely full.
