The New York Knicks started the NBA decision on the right foot. Playing away from home, the team defeated the San Antonio Spurs 105-95 on Wednesday night (3) and took a 1-0 lead in the league's final series.

The highlight of the match was Jalen Brunson. The Knicks' main offensive reference, the point guard scored 30 points and was decisive in the final minutes by converting two important shots that helped secure the victory in San Antonio.

The performance had an extra ingredient of overcoming. Still in the first half, Brunson felt pain in his knee and ankle and even went to the changing rooms during the match. Despite the scare and an irregular start to his shots, he returned to the court and finished the game with 12 hits in 31 attempts.

Karl-Anthony Towns also played an important role in New York's triumph. The pivot scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, contributing to another victory for the team in the playoffs.

For Spurs, Victor Wembanyama was the main scorer, with 26 points. The Frenchman, however, faced difficulties in shooting from the court, making just six of 21 attempts. Much of his production came from the free throw line, where he converted 12 of the 13 shots he had.

The second game of the finals is scheduled for Friday (5), again in San Antonio. The Spurs will look for a draw in front of their home fans, while the Knicks will try to extend their lead before the series heads to New York.
