Brazilians are spending 52 years of their lives in front of screens, says research
A survey showed that Brazilians spend around 116 hours a week connected to the internet. In total, the average Brazilian is spending 52 years, 9 months and 16 days on the internet - considering the country's life expectancy of 76 years.
Compared to the same study carried out in 2022, this period increased by 1 year, 6 months and 3 days. Of this time, 2 hours and 50 minutes are dedicated to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots.
The survey commissioned by the cybersecurity company NordVPN and analyzed the online journey that Brazilians take during the day - which starts at 7am and ends around 9pm.
The internet is mainly used for entertainment activities. Social networks would be consuming 12 hours and 19 minutes per week and streaming series and films, 11 hours and 28 minutes.
Following in the ranking are online videos, which occupy 10 hours and 49 minutes of the total 116 hours, and music, which takes 8 hours and 32 minutes per week.

AI chatbots, which were one of the study's highlights, are being used for 2 hours and 50 minutes a week - highlighting the growing importance that this tool has in the daily lives of Brazilians.

When asked if they could imagine a whole day without accessing the internet, 33% responded that they did not think of it as a possibility;
The survey was conducted by Cint between April 1 and 17, 2026 with more than 20 thousand internet users from 20 countries. In Brazil, the sample included 1,003 respondents aged between 18 and 74, with quotas defined by age, gender and place of residence.
