Brazilian team spends the night searching for possible survivor in a building that collapsed in Venezuela, says SP Civil Defense

Firefighters from SP arrive in Venezuela on a mission to help earthquake victims
Agents from the Civil Defense of the State of São Paulo and the Fire Department spent the early hours of this Thursday (2) in a search and rescue operation in La Guaira, Venezuela, after sniffer dogs indicated the possible presence of survivors under the rubble of a building that collapsed in the earthquake that hit the country on June 24.
According to the Venezuelan government, the disaster has already left 2,295 dead, more than 11,000 injured and 12,841 people affected.
The teams have been working uninterruptedly since Wednesday (1st) and are approaching 24 continuous hours of work at the site, according to information from the São Paulo Civil Defense.
According to the firefighters, the sniffer dogs identified signs that could indicate the presence of people alive under the rubble. Following the indication, the teams began an excavation and removal of the debris.
The work is carried out in a slow and controlled manner to avoid further collapses and preserve possible pockets of survival.
Teams use search techniques for collapsed structures, shoring and careful removal of debris.
After the earthquake that hit Venezuela, the government of São Paulo made teams available to join the humanitarian mission coordinated by the federal government, together with Venezuelan authorities. Currently, the Brazilian mission brings together 44 professionals, including 11 military firefighters, a Civil Defense agent from the State of São Paulo, two military doctors and two search dogs.
