Brazilian space sector gains innovation center and enhances future
The Aerospace Innovation Hub for PCTec/UnB (Science and Technology Park of the University of Brasília) was announced last Tuesday (16), during the technical forum at the SpaceBr Show 2026, in São Paulo.
The main focus of the achievements is focused on the development of Artificial Intelligence, technologies for civil and defense use, high-performance drones, nanosatellites and the acceleration of deep tech startups.
The physical and digital structure of the Hub includes specialized laboratories, satellite command and monitoring stations, dedicated supercomputing infrastructure and regulatory experimentation environments.
The partnership was consolidated between AEB (Brazilian Space Agency) and Finatec (Research Support Foundation of the Federal District and the Foundation for Scientific and Technological Enterprises).
The announcement and launch took place in the panel "Technology Parks: Building New Frontiers of Innovation in Brazil", one of the highlights of the SpaceBr Show 2026 program. The initiative has institutional and financial support from FAPDF (Federal District Research Support Foundation).
"Initiatives such as the Incuba Espaço Program, the Brazilian Space Industry Catalog, the Strategic Studies Network and the space industry workshops, conducted by the agency, will find in the hub a complementary environment for integrating skills, developing dual-use technologies, forming strategic partnerships and generating innovative solutions for space applications", analyzes Leila Fonseca, coordinator of strategic studies and new businesses at AEB.

"The UnB Hub strengthens this connection between academia, government and the productive sector, transforming knowledge into business and jobs, based on the production chain of the aerospace market that is on the rise among the world's great economic powers", commented Leonardo Resman, president of the foundation.

The project is seen as a historic advance in the country's technological development, as it creates a link between scientific research, the public and the market.
The creation also moves the private sector with the possibility of expanding the Brazilian sector in the international economy.
For the entire private sector, the Hub is the ideal environment to transform complex scientific projects into scalable commercial products. This synergy accelerates open innovation programs and ensures that Brazilian solutions achieve real competitiveness in the global market of the new space economy.

According to the director of PCTec/UnB, Renato Borges, states that the Hub plays a strategic role in converting the knowledge produced in universities into real and applied solutions. "This Hub was specifically designed to accelerate the transfer of technology to the aerospace industry, retaining highly qualified talent in the country and boosting the emergence of new, highly competitive technology-based companies", he explains.
The project is seen as a consolidator of research. For specialists, there will be strategic direction and agility, with the possibility of transformation in the technology hub of the Federal District.
