In a note, the consulate informed that the reopening of the building and the resumption of services will be announced as soon as conditions permit.
The incident occurred on Tuesday morning, when the columns of a skyscraper under renovation began to give way during rush hour. Firefighters, police and emergency teams isolated a block in the region as a precaution.
According to authorities, two support beams buckled between the 21st and 22nd floors of the 37-story commercial building. The building is on 42nd Street.

The Fire Department reported that part of the structure gave way between the 21st and 26th floors, causing some floors to sink. The pressure on the structure also caused some bricks to detach, increasing the risk of further collapses.
All workers left the building safely before the situation worsened. No one was injured.
The building that is at risk of collapsing previously housed a Pfizer office and is being converted into residential apartments.
Police have blocked vehicle and pedestrian traffic on a section of the road while engineers analyze the stability of the construction and investigate what caused the structural failure.
