Brazil stands out internationally in a complex scenario, says Apex
Brazil has stood out in the international trade scenario, even in the face of an external environment marked by uncertainty and geopolitical tensions. This is what Laudemir Muller, president of Apex Brasil, assesses in an interview with CNN Money, in which he discussed advances in the country's trade relations with China and the potential of the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union.
According to Muller, the world started to see Brazil differently. "Brazil is standing out. In a complex external scenario for the international market, Brazil is breaking the export record", he stated.
For him, the country presents itself as stable, with quality and quantity in its export agenda, in addition to registering internal income growth, job creation and high consumption.
Record participation in the food fair in China
Apex Brasil participated in Cial, considered the largest food fair in China, held in Shanghai. The Brazilian delegation was a record: while in the previous year the country had around 50 companies represented, in this edition there were 82, including cooperatives and family farming producers. At this fair alone, Brazilian companies closed deals totaling more than US$2 billion.
Muller highlighted that China sees Brazil as a strategic partner, valuing the bilateral relationship and Brazil's ability to supply food with quality and scale.
In the beef sector, for example, he pointed out an imbalance favorable to Brazil: while China consumes 11 million tons and produces only 8 million, Brazil produces between 10 and 11 million and consumes around 7 million.
"The one who is better structured is Brazil", he said. Furthermore, while herds in the United States and Europe are falling, Brazil is the only country that maintains and expands its livestock herds.
Another highlight in the interview was the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union, currently in the implementation phase. Apex Brasil estimates that the agreement could increase Brazilian exports to the European bloc by US$ 1 billion.
For Muller, the progress of the agreement is due both to the diplomatic effort and to Europe's new perspective on the need for stable trading partners in the long term. "Europe started to look: I need to have stable partners. Who are my stable partners in the long term? Mercosur is a stable partner", he declared.
Muller also mentioned that Chinese companies promised to invest R$28 billion in Brazil, reinforcing international interest in the country. For him, Brazil's image abroad is associated with sustainability, the production model and stability, factors that have become increasingly valued assets in the current global geopolitical context.
"Brazil shows itself to be something that perhaps many years ago would have been something not so perceived: a country that makes agreements, a country that opens up, a country that reduces tariffs, a country that shows itself to be stable", he concluded.
