Brazil opens 13 new markets for agribusiness products
MAPA (Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock) announced this Tuesday (9) the opening of 13 new markets for national agricultural products, after the conclusion of sanitary and phytosanitary negotiations with countries in South America, Central America, Africa and the Eurasian Economic Union. With the new agreements, Brazilian agribusiness has reached 639 market openings in 97 destinations since the beginning of 2023.
Among the authorizations obtained are the export of pacu-caranha semen to Argentina, salted bovine hide to Bolivia, bovine genetic material to El Salvador and Honduras, popcorn corn to Ecuador and the Dominican Republic, in addition to coconut, castor, passion fruit and habanero pepper seeds for different markets in the region.
Sales of fertile eggs to Nigeria and flour, animal fats and blood products intended for animal feed to Ethiopia were also released.
One of the highlights is the authorization to export cashew nuts to the Eurasian Economic Union, a bloc formed by Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia. According to the government, the bloc imported more than US$1.4 billion in Brazilian agricultural products last year, with emphasis on soy, meat and coffee.
According to a joint note from the Ministry of Agriculture and the MRE (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), the new qualifications expand opportunities for Brazilian producers and exporters, diversifying the range of products with access to the international market.
With the new agreements, Brazilian agribusiness has reached 639 market openings in 97 destinations since the beginning of 2023.
