Brazil has two hanging; see suspension rules for yellow in the World Cup

Carlo Ancelotti will have to consider an extra factor to set up Brazil in their next match in Group C of the World Cup, against Haiti.

Casemiro and Ibañez, starters in the draw with Morocco, received a yellow card each in the first half of the match. At the World Cup, just two cards in different matches are enough for an automatic suspension.

To be on the field in the last and decisive round of the group, against Scotland, the pair will have to be disciplined in the duel next Friday (19), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), in Philadelphia, and not receive another punishment.

New format, new rules
With the creation of an additional knockout phase due to the increase in the number of teams in 2026, the World Cup also has a new policy of automatic suspension for yellow cards.

Until 2022, the regulations only provided for an "amnesty" of punishments, after the quarter-finals, so that no athlete would miss the big decision.

Now, cards will also be reset after the group stage, as a team that reaches the final can play up to eight matches in the tournament.

Mexico and South Africa with more problems
