Brazil faces a series of cold records in the winter of 2026
Amid the first cold wave of the winter of 2026, Brazil faced a series of low temperatures and record cold temperatures this Thursday (25). The Southeast, North and South regions were mainly affected by the weather conditions
According to Climatempo, capitals such as Florianópolis, Curitiba and Rio Branco, for example, faced the coldest dawn of the year so far.
In Florianópolis, the cold record was broken with a minimum temperature of 3.7°C, in the north of the city, according to EPAGRI measurements. The previous record for lowest temperature this year was 5.9°C, on June 18.
In Curitiba, the new cold record for 2026 was established with a minimum temperature of 2.3°C. The previous record for lowest temperature this year was 2.5°C, on May 11. The measurement was made by the National Institute of Meteorology.
In Rio Branco, Acre, the minimum temperature this Thursday (25) was 13.7°C, the new cold record for 2026. The previous record for the lowest temperature this year was 14.7°C, on May 11.

In the city of Rio de Janeiro, the maximum temperature was just 20.3°C, in Marambaia, far west of the capital of Rio de Janeiro. The previous record was 21.5°C, on June 16.
The city of São Paulo recorded the record for the lowest maximum temperature for the month of June in 30 years, at 13.5°C.
