Brazil creates solidarity network for earthquake victims in Venezuela
The two earthquakes that hit Venezuela last week left 2,295 people dead, said the president of the country's National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez. Faced with the tragedy, Brazil, a neighboring country, already has several humanitarian aid collection points in different states.
South Region
In Rio Grande do Sul, the Association of Venezuelans organizes a campaign to collect supplies for the victims of the earthquakes in Caxias do Sul. Items that can be donated include canned food, cleaning products, gloves, diapers, baby formula, pet food and first aid items.

In Porto Alegre, REIDE (Network for the Integration and Development of Migrants, Refugees and Stateless Persons), a civil society organization that works to promote integral human development, social, cultural and economic integration and guarantee the rights of migrants, refugees and stateless people, provides a humanitarian aid collection point at Av. João Elustondo Filho, 100, Sarandi (Headquarters of Aldeias Infantilis SOS). The contact telephone number is +55 51 9890-5741.
The municipality of Bento Gonçalves also provided collection sites. The city hall reported that the Fire Department, the Department of Social Assistance and the Department of Security are among the collection points. Requested donations include non-perishable food, drinking water and hygiene products.
Northern Region
In Manaus, one of the closest capitals to Venezuela, the city hall reported that the donation collection campaign remains active. The population, companies and partner institutions that wish to collaborate can deliver non-perishable food, water and hygiene items to the Semasc warehouse, located on Rua Leopoldo Péres, in the Petrópolis neighborhood, south of the capital.
The Anglican Community of Manaus, part of the Anglican Episcopal Church of Brazil, announced that, in addition to receiving donations, it will promote moments of prayer in solidarity with the victims.
In Roraima, a state that borders Venezuela, Operação Acolhida, which supports activities to welcome people in vulnerable situations at the border with personnel, material and infrastructure, also announced reinforcement of actions.

Southeast Region
In Rio de Janeiro, several collection points were organized. The Venezuela Gourmet restaurant, located at Rua Barata Ribeiro, 559, store D, in Copacabana, informed that it will function as a collection point for painkillers, anti-inflammatories, sterile gauze, disposable gloves and bandages. In Belo Horizonte (MG), the Dorian Cacao Venezuela restaurant also reported that it is acting as a donation collection center. The establishment is located at Rua Silva Jardim, 158, Floresta neighborhood. The contact telephone number is (31) 98266-5427.
In São Paulo, some of the main collection points are Projeto Cerzindo, on Rua Guaianases, in Campos Elíseos; Missão Paz, on Rua do Glicério, in the Liberdade neighborhood; Logo Logo Bar, located on Rua Rego Freitas, in República; and the restaurant La Borratxeria, with locations on Rua João Moura, in Pinheiros, and Rua Ramos Batista, in Vila Olímpia.
La Borratxeria receives donations of clothes in good condition, blankets, mattresses and tents, non-perishable and easy-to-consume food, mineral water, diapers and children's items, personal hygiene products, toilet paper, first aid medicines and other items that may be useful and viable for transportation.
Christ the Redeemer pays tribute to the people of Venezuela
This Thursday (2), the Christ the Redeemer monument receives a special projection in honor of the Venezuelans who were victims of the earthquakes that hit the country between the 24th and 29th of June.
In addition to the tribute, the Cristo Redentor Sanctuary participates in the "SOS Venezuela - Solidarity and Fraternity" campaign, organized by the Catholic Church in Brazil. The national mobilization seeks to raise funds for families affected by the earthquakes that devastated Venezuela.
