Mapa (Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock) announced this Monday (8) the opening of the market for the export of Brazilian coffee and coconut seeds to Panama, the result of a ministry mission in the country.

According to the ministry, this new commercial partner represents new opportunities for the seed sector and strengthens the relationship between the countries.

"The opening expands opportunities for Brazilian exporters in the seed sector and reinforces trust between the health control systems of the two countries. The initiative also contributes to the diversification of commercial relations and to the strengthening of agricultural cooperation between Brazil and Panama", highlighted the ministry in a note.

Fertilizers

In addition to market opening, another issue discussed in the meeting between Mapa's executive secretary, Cleber Soares, and Panama's Minister of Agricultural Development, Roberto Linares, was the logistics of purchasing and transporting fertilizers.

During the visit, the Brazilian delegation met with businesspeople from the sector and learned about the Panamanian infrastructure for transporting, moving and storing cargo, especially fertilizers, grains, natural gas and raw materials used in the manufacture of fertilizers.

According to the Ministry, this agenda served to "evaluate Panama's potential as a strategic logistics platform for the supply of fertilizers to the Brazilian market".

In the interministerial meetings, the possibility of expanding cooperation between the two countries in the supply of agricultural inputs, bio-inputs and agricultural technology was also discussed.

Despite the absence of official announcements, the ministry classified the meeting as productive and positive in advancing the relationship between the two countries in the fertilizer trade.
