The relationship between human beings and nature is the central axis of "The Flight of the Birdboy", a book by writer Marcela Sperandio. The work uses the trajectory of a small winged being who discovers the world beyond the sky to address issues such as identity, transformation and belonging, in a narrative aimed at readers of all ages.

The narrative follows a small winged being who leaves the universe where he lives to explore an unknown world. Upon touching the earth for the first time, the protagonist goes through a journey marked by discoveries, changes and challenges that become a metaphor for the human experience and people's relationship with the planet.

According to the author, the story proposes a reflection on the distance between human beings and nature.

"Often, we are disconnected from this Mother Earth, as well as from ourselves. When we put our feet on the ground and connect with nature, we realize all the grandeur of the Earth, a grandeur that is also in human beings", says Marcela Sperandio. For her, "rooting" is one of the ways to rebuild this connection.

Tarso Galvão's illustrations complement the narrative by creating dreamlike-inspired scenarios that dialogue with the poetic language of the text. According to the illustrator, the visual project seeks to bring the universe of dreams closer to reality, highlighting the contrast between natural elements and the surreal.

Aimed at both children and adults, "The Flight of the Birdboy" proposes a symbolic reading about identity, freedom and belonging. Throughout the story, the loss of the protagonist's feathers represents the process of transformation, suggesting that changes can be painful, but also necessary for growth.

Sold for around R$55.00, the book is available for purchase at Editora Cambucá.
