Train bombing in Pakistan leaves several dead and injured
At least 24 people were killed and more than 70 were injured in a bomb attack on a train in Quetta, in Balochistan province, in southwestern Pakistan, this Sunday (24), according to authorities.
An official who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the AFP news agency that the train was transporting military personnel and their families from Quetta to Peshawar, in northwestern Pakistan. Another said that the soldiers were traveling to celebrate the Feast of Sacrifice, one of the most important dates in the Muslim calendar, which begins on Tuesday (26).
"A car loaded with explosives collided with one of the train carriages, causing a huge explosion," he said.
The attack was claimed by separatist rebels from the Balochistan Liberation Army.

Images taken from the scene after the explosion show a destroyed carriage, lying on its side, and people climbing onto it in search of survivors.
The force of the explosion also shattered windows and destroyed nearby homes and vehicles.
The attack is the latest in a series of major attacks on trains, security forces and infrastructure in the mineral-rich province, which borders Iran and Afghanistan.
The separatist militant group Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), considered a terrorist by the United States, said in a press release that it carried out the attack and described it as a suicide bombing.
Balochistan is the poorest and largest province in Pakistan. Baloch separatists accuse the Pakistani government of exploiting the province's natural gas and abundant mineral resources without the local population benefiting from this.
