Bom Jardim da Serra (SC) records the lowest temperature of the year in Brazil

The city of Bom Jardim da Serra, in Santa Catarina (SC), recorded the lowest temperature of the year in Brazil in the early hours of this Thursday (18). According to Epagri/Ciram, the body that monitors the state's climate, the thermometers registered -7.3ºC at 4am.

On Wednesday (17), the municipality had recorded -6.7ºC, a record until then. The condition is associated with a mass of dry and cold air of polar origin in the south of the country. The forecast is that another mass of intense polar air will arrive in the region from next Tuesday (23), associated with the decline in temperatures.

Known as the "Capital of Waters", Bom Jardim da Serra is located at an altitude of approximately 1,827 meters above sea level. Temperatures below zero are frequently recorded at dawn, with the formation of frost and, occasionally, snow.
