The BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) approved the transfer of R$57.7 million for the construction of a new Copacol grain storage unit in Realeza, a municipality in the southwest of Paraná.

The investment is part of the bank's support strategy in the 2025/26 Harvest Plan and has resources from the PCA (Storage Construction and Expansion Program) and Prodecoop (Cooperative Development Program for Adding Value to Agricultural Production).

"The construction will be strategic to improve harvest delivery in the region and reduce logistical costs for producers", said the Bank in a statement released this Friday (26).

The storage, cleaning, receiving and drying unit will have a capacity of 24 thousand tons. The investment also includes the construction of an agricultural input warehouse for sale and the acquisition of equipment, such as a tipper and chip deposit.

In the bank's assessment, the expansion of storage capacity increases the cooperative's operational capacity, providing flexibility for producers in times of extreme weather conditions.

"The expansion of storage capacity will increase the quality of grain conservation, reducing losses and better prices. The space will also reduce the distance that the producer will travel to deliver their harvest, reducing logistical costs and strengthening the local economy", highlighted the BNDES.

The bank estimates that, during the construction period, 95 indirect jobs will be created. Upon completion, the projection is for 30 permanent vacancies.

For the president of BNDES, Aloizio Mercadante, the financing helps to improve a historical bottleneck in the sector.

"The investment will help reduce the country's historic storage deficit, in addition to encouraging growth in agro-industrial GDP and expanding the sector's productive capacity, increasing competitiveness and adding value to the agricultural chain", he stated.
