Beyoncé hints at rock album in new song; understand

The surprise release of "Morning Dew (Donk)", this Saturday (4), revived theories among Beyoncé fans about the singer's next album.

The first verse of the new song makes reference to Prince by mentioning by name the song "Purple Rain", a song released in 1984 that combines rock, pop and gospel and marked the artist's career.

Her fans say they saw in the track's introduction a clue about Act III, Beyoncé's trilogy in which the singer sets out to revisit musical genres appropriated by the mostly white industry, but which have their origins in the American black community.

The trilogy began with the album "Renaissance" (2022), which explores disco music, and "Cowboy Carter" (2024), which returns to country. Mentioning "Purple Rain" would be an indication that the next album, which does not yet have a release date, could be rock.

In addition, the singer's frequent use of the color purple and mentions of Prince fuel the theories of the beyhive, as Beyoncé's fans call themselves.

At the end of April, the artist posted several photos in a majestic purple dress. In 2024, she also posed in costume as Prince for Halloween.

At the end of 2025, Beyoncé was present at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Coincidence or not, the artist's participation in the race could be an indication that Tina Turner, widely recognized as the queen of rock, is also an inspiration for Act III's next album.

That's because Tina marked a historic moment when she sang "The Best" for Ayrton Senna in 1993, after the driver won the Australian GP. The race was marked as the Brazilian's last victory in motorsport.
