Bad Bunny meets Pope Leo during the pontiff's visit to Spain

Pope Leo had a brief private meeting with Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny, 32, at the Bernabéu stadium in Madrid on Monday night (8), the Vatican said on Tuesday (9), adding that it did not plan to release a photo of the meeting.

According to a Vatican statement, the pope met with the reggaeton star - whose album "Debí Tirar Más Fotos" ("I Should Have Taken More Photos") won Album of the Year at this year's Grammys - along with his family and others. He gave them a brief greeting before leaving the stadium, the statement added.

Leão, who drew the ire of US President Donald Trump at the beginning of the year for criticizing the war in Iran, is on a week-long trip to Spain, where he warned that the escalation of conflicts has led the world to a "deep crisis".

Coincidentally, provoking Trump's ire is something the pope and Bad Bunny, whose given name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, have in common.

The singer has been outspoken in his criticism of Trump's hardline anti-immigration policies and supported former Vice President Kamala Harris of the Democratic Party in the 2024 presidential race.

Bad Bunny headlined the Super Bowl halftime show in February, bringing the Spanish language and reggaeton rhythms to the annual US football spectacle. Trump called the show "absolutely terrible" and "an affront to the greatness of America."
