Avaí plays against Chapecoense and wins the South-Southeast Cup title

Avaí beat Chapecoense 3-0 on Wednesday night (3), in Ressacada, in the first game of the Copa Sul-Sudeste final.

Leão da Ilha opened the scoring after just six minutes, with Jean Lucas, who scored again in the 37th minute. Still in the initial stage, Wallison scored the third goal and gave final results to the match.

With the result, Avaí opened up a wide advantage in the dispute for the regional title. The Florianópolis team could lose by up to two goals in the return game and still win the cup.

The clubs will face each other again next Sunday (7), at 11am (Brasília time), at Arena Condá. To win the title in regular time, Chapecoense will need to win by four goals. A victory by three goals takes the decision to penalties.

This is the first edition of the Copa Sul-Southeast. The tournament brings together 12 clubs, divided into three groups of four teams. In total, the competition has representatives from Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul.

The champion of the Copa Sul-Southeast qualifies for next season's Copa do Brasil.
