Author of teenage robbery in Itaim Paulista is identified

The Civil Police of São Paulo identified the perpetrator of a robbery that took place in May 2025, in Itaim Paulista, in the East Zone of the capital of São Paulo. The 19-year-old criminal was recognized last Wednesday (10) by a witness and remains in prison.

The investigations were carried out by the 1st Police Station of the Investigations Division on Crimes Against Property of the State Department of Criminal Investigations (1st Disccpat/Deic). The identified criminal is in preventive custody for another crime, committed in October last year, also in Itaim Paulista.

At least seven victims have already had objects stolen by the man, who was detained with a backpack containing nine cell phones and a firearm.

At the time of the robbery, the 15-year-old teenager, identified as Lucas Teles Santana, died after being the victim of a robbery on Rua Cristóvão Benitez, east of São Paulo.

Moments before he was killed, he had been approached by robbers on a motorcycle while walking with a cousin, when both were approached by the robbers who announced the robbery and demanded the victims' cell phones.

The young man got scared and dropped the device. Thus, he was hit by gunfire.
