Austrian defender confirms renewal with Bayern Munich until 2029

Austrian full-back and midfielder Konrad Laimer hinted this Friday (26) that he has renewed his contract with Bayern Munich until 2029. According to the player, the agreement is "practically official", although the club has not yet made the formal announcement.

The statements were made during a press conference before Austria's final match in Group J of the World Cup qualifiers, against Algeria.

Laimer played down speculation about his future and denied they were a distraction.

"A lot of people talked about it... so it's practically official, right?", said the player.

"I was very calm. I don't usually read a lot of what people write about me", added the Bayern right-back.

According to the German press, negotiations dragged on for more than six months because Laimer and Bayern were far apart in terms of salary expectations.

The 29-year-old player stated that speculation is "part of football" and highlighted that "a lot comes from outside and is written about everything".
